Educação popular, Teologia da libertação, Ditadura militarSynopsis
The book deals with the intertwined experiences of popular education and liberation theology in the Archdiocese of Paraíba / Brazil during the military dictatorship (1964-1985). It contains ecclesial and lay practices that, combined, produced numerous advances in relation to the education of the popular strata, human rights and the very reaffirmation of the principles and postulates of the "living church" arising from the Second Vatican Council, as well as Latin movements -American women who disentangled liberation theology and its links with Paulo Freire's educational ideas and practices. In the difficult context of the military dictatorship (1964-1985), such practices emphasized leaders such as those of Dom José Maria Pires, of Fr. José Comblin, among others. In short, the intertwining of popular education (of Freirian inspiration) and liberation theology, led both by ecclesial leaders and by the intense participation of lay people in the "living church", make up the unpublished chapters of this book.
